Canadian Dental Care Plan

CDCP accepted at Pioneer Dental

We’re a registered Canadian Dental Care Plan provider in Kitchener, and we bill direct so eligible patients pay nothing up front.

Eligibility

Do you qualify?

You’re eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan if all three of the following apply to you:

You're a Canadian resident for tax purposes

You don't have access to private dental insurance

Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000, with your 2025 tax return filed

What you’ll pay

Your adjusted family net income determines your share of the cost. If it’s under $70,000, the plan covers your care in full and you pay nothing. Between $70,000 and $90,000, you pay a portion of the cost as a co-payment, and we’ll walk you through exactly what that looks like before any treatment begins.

Coverage

What the plan covers

The CDCP covers a broad range of everyday dental care: exams and cleanings, x-rays, fluoride and sealants, fillings, root canals, extractions, gum treatment, and dentures. Larger treatments such as crowns need to be pre-approved first, which we handle on your behalf.

What it doesn’t cover

Cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening and veneers aren’t covered, and neither are dental implants or bridges. Orthodontics is part of the plan on paper but hasn’t been rolled out yet. If you’re interested in any of these, we’re happy to talk through your options and what they’d cost.

Direct billing

No paperwork, no paying up front

We bill directly. That means you don’t pay for covered treatment and wait to be reimbursed. We handle the claim for you. Just bring your CDCP member card to your appointment and we’ll take care of the rest.

Not sure whether you’re covered, or still working through your application? Give us a call and we’ll help you make sense of it.
