Dental Cleanings & Checkups

A routine cleaning and checkup is the most valuable dental appointment you'll book all year. For most of our Kitchener patients we recommend visiting every six months, though some benefit from more frequent visits depending on gum health and cavity risk.

Your appointment begins with a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and surrounding tissue. We look for early decay, gum inflammation, and anything else that's far easier to treat now than later. Digital x-rays let us see between and beneath teeth, where problems tend to hide until they become painful. Catching a cavity early means a simple filling rather than something more involved.

Then comes the cleaning. Even with excellent brushing and flossing at home, plaque hardens into tartar over time, and tartar can only be removed with professional instruments. Our hygienists clear it from above and below the gumline, then polish and finish.
