Dental Crowns

A crown is a custom-made cap that covers a tooth entirely, restoring its shape, strength, and appearance. It's the standard solution when a tooth is too damaged for a filling but still has a healthy root worth keeping.

You might need one after root canal treatment, following a fracture, or when an old filling has grown so large that the remaining tooth can no longer support it. Crowns are also used to protect a cracked tooth before the crack spreads far enough to make the tooth unsavable, at which point extraction becomes the only option.

We use porcelain crowns, shaded to match the surrounding teeth. Once fitted, a crown is difficult to distinguish from a natural tooth, and with reasonable care it will last many years. The process usually takes two visits, one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, another to fit the finished crown.

Coverage and pre-approval

Crowns are covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan, but as a major service they require pre-authorisation first. We handle that submission for you, and we'll confirm exactly what's approved before any work begins.
