Root Canal Treatment

Save an infected tooth and end the pain, without losing the tooth. Available at our Kitchener, ON dental clinic.

About Service

Root canals have a worse reputation than they deserve. The procedure doesn't cause pain. It ends it. By the time a tooth needs one, the nerve inside is already infected, and that infection is what's been keeping you awake.

The treatment removes the infected tissue from inside the tooth, disinfects the space, and seals it. The tooth stays in place and keeps doing its job. The alternative is extraction, which means either living with a gap or paying considerably more later for a dental implant or bridge.

Modern anaesthetics and techniques mean most patients are comfortable throughout. Many are surprised by how straightforward it is compared to what they'd braced for. Afterwards the tooth usually needs a dental crown to protect it, since it becomes more brittle once the nerve is gone.

Signs you may need one

Persistent throbbing, sharp pain when biting down, lingering sensitivity to heat or cold, swelling around the gum, or a tooth that's darkened. If any of this sounds familiar, don't wait: infections spread. Root canal treatment is covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and we bill directly.
